Holiday Inn in Park Cities taking on Magnolia Hotels name, getting makeover

The Holiday Inn Dallas Central – Park Cities location will take on a new identity on June 15.

Owned by TriGate Capital, the 293-room hotel is being rebranded under the name Magnolia Hotel Dallas – Park Cities to broaden its appeal to guests staying in and around the Southern Methodist University area. The new name will bring with it $2 million in renovations to the hotel’s decor and guest experience, including renovations to the hotel restaurant and lobby, a new menu and fountains.

Among the new amenities offered with the change will be free Wi-Fi, a happy hour and a daily cookie hour. Rooms, which are roughly 400 square feet each, will feature new lighting, flat screen TVs, bedding and makeup mirrors. Some will include refrigerators.

“We believe transitioning to the Magnolia brand is going to elegant the property for the local community, as well as for business and leisure travelers,” said Jonathan Pettee, managing member of TriGate Capital, which owns the hotel. “We believe the Magnolia brand will broaden the appeal of the hotel for business and social functions in the Park Cities area.”

Leigh Hitz, president of Stout Street Capital, which has managed the hotel for the past two years, said she hopes the rebranded hotel will attract more events such as weddings to its 12,000 square feet of meeting space.

Magnolia has another hotel in downtown Dallas on Commerce Street.

The soon-to-be second Dallas Magnolia hotel was brought under the Holiday Inn chain 2008 and received $9 million worth of renovations, which were completed in 2012.
